About The Tommy Fund

Since 1953, The Tommy Fund for Childhood Cancer, has supported families whose children are undergoing cancer treatments at Smilow Cancer Hospital, Yale-New Haven. The Tommy Fund provides direct payment for rent, mortgage and utility bills so parents can take time off from work to tend to their child. The clinic sees several hundred newly-diagnosed children each year and is one of the leading pediatric cancer centers in CT.

  • The Tommy Fund is an organization raising funds for patients & families since 1953.
  • The Tommy Fund has committed to a leadership donation of $1 million to fund The Tommy Fund Pediatric Hematology Oncology Center at Smilow Cancer Hospital, Yale-New Haven.
  • The Tommy Fund has raised the necessary funds to initiate a new palliative care program at Smilow Cancer Hospital, Yale-New Haven.
  • The Tommy Fund provides seed money for the HEROS (Health, Education, Research and Outcomes Survivors) clinic in 2003 and maintain ongoing support.
  • The Tommy Fund supports families whose children are undergoing cancer treatment at The Tommy Fund for Childhood Cancer clinic located on the seventh floor of Smilow Cancer Hospital, Yale-New Haven by providing direct payment for rent, mortgage and utility bills, so that parents can take time off from work to tend to their child.
  • The Tommy Fund for Childhood Cancer acts as a helping hand to the pediatric oncology section of the department of pediatrics at the Yale School of Medicine and the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven & Trumbull center. Pediatric oncology social workers work alongside the Tommy Fund to ensure the needs of the family are met at such a critical time in their child’s life. The clinic sees several hundred newly-diagnosed children each year and the need grows each year to offer this support, as cancer can impact anyone at any income level.
